Linda, Thanks for printing out the list of must-haves suggested for sixth to eighth grade. I must admit, though, I was a little surprised to see the title Rat Saw God by Thomas. I have read the book and think it is wonderful, but judged it too old for 6-8, really more suitable for high school. I would be interested in others' opinions on this book in particular and on the designation YA in general. Stretching book reviews to fill a need from 11 or 12 all the way to age 17 seems a bit fruitless and on occasion suicidal to me. Am I the only one who has purchased a book based on a wonderful ya review and then found it too sophisticated? Just curious. If there is enough interest I will post a hit.
