TARGET: Traveling Research Project

My plan is to provide 7-12th grade students in four rural
schools (with limited on-site research tools) with an
authentic electronic research experience including the use of
computer technology to identify, access, analyze and share
information on a curriculum related topic. I want to put
together a "package" of hardware and software that could be
transported via small plane along with a librarian who would
spend two weeks working with students and teachers to complete
an electronic research project. Has anyone done anything like
this? Any suggestions for software, equipment, research plan
of attack? I have lots of ideas but need more fuel for the
fire.
