In response to the quote:

You might find an item in the Feb-Mar issue of Civilization interesting.  Ann
Fadiman suggests that plagiarists are most closely related to kleptomaniacs.
When talking about John Hershey's well documented tendency to adopt huge
portions of writing done by others -- including dispatches her mother had
sent to Time magazine which became part of Hershey's Men on Bataan. --  she
comments "He borrowed repeatedly, he left extravagantly obvious clues, and --
what a gifted writer he was! -- he didn't need to do it."

It's a well-written commentary, which includes the comment "The more I've
read about plagiarism, the more I've come to think that literature is one big
recycling bin."
