Mention should also be made of The Jerusalem Bible.  It is also a new
translation that is much truer to the original than the King James.  For
historic purposes one should also include The Reader's Bible, which is
even an earlier English translation than the King James.  for the most
authorative and the most complete one would have to have The Anchor
Bible which is many volumes long.  In any event the Bible certainly
should be in our libraries.
