HIT: Woman's Body (What did I actually do?)

Comrades:
        You are amazing, but you already knew that.  The book in question
is:

_Woman's Body_, contributing editor is Dr. Miriam Stoppard.  It is
published by Dorling Kindersley, 95 Madison Ave., New York, NY  10016.
Retail cost is $29.95, but discounts can be gotten through sales reps. or
perhaps through "book parties" which DK now uses for marketing. (Kind of
like Tupperware parties, I guess).

        The replies from this list were varied, thoughtful, and helped me
make my decision.  These included:

        5 librarians recommended "razoring" it out if I thought it would
cause repercussions.

        2 librarians recommended putting it on special reserve, or having
the school nurse keep it.

        14 librarians recommended putting it on the shelves as is.

        2 librarians wanted the publication information so they could
purchase the book.

        So, what did I do?  The book is now in the reference stacks (we
do circulate ref. books overnight), intact, but without fanfare.  What
convinced me?  Messages from both male and female librarians about the
inportance of the information to high school girls.  Several mentioned
that they wished they could have read that book and learned things
from it that they had to learn later (from much less-dependable sources).
So, people who want to learn more about women and their bodies will find
the book and can discreetly use it.  The other students will probably
never notice that it is here.

        Again, thank you all for your input.  The replies from all
viewpoints were thoughtful and professional.  It is the kind of thing
which reinforces my pride in my profession and the people who have chosen
