Bartlett's 16th ed, p.143, #13 says:

Thirty days hath November,
April, June, and September,
February hath twenty-eight alone,
And all the rest have thirty-one.
             Chronicles of England [1562]


I learned it a bit differently:

Thirty days hath September,
April, June, and November,
All the rest have thirty-one,
Until we hear from Washington!
(Except February, which has twenty-eight.)
