GREETINGS!
Two of my middle school teachers are creating a project connecting
multicultural studies with the 1997 Boston Marathon. I have been searching the
WEB for possible connections which will help us, and have found some
interesting marathon/running sites, but we still seem to be coming up short of
our needs. Perhaps some of you will have suggestions. The project involves
looking for runners from countries other than the U.S. who will be running in
this year's Boston Marathon. The teachers would like to have their students
create questions which these runners will answer (preferably online) which will
help the students understand something about the runner's country and culture.
The students will specifically find out about the runner's training for the
marathon and what aspects of his/her country impact the training. Then the
students will follow that runner's progress during the race itself.

You could help if you know of runners--or how to contact runners--from
countries other than the U.S. --We are especially interested in corresponding
with them through e-mail. Perhaps you know the e-mail address or WEB address
of running organizations in other countries. I already know of the Dead
Runner's Society and have had someone post this at their site.

Thank you for any information you can give. IMPORTANT: Please send to my
e-mail address rather than to this list.
