From: Johanna Halbeisen Woodland ES <jhalbei@k12.oit.umass.edu> Subject: ELEM: disability awareness materials needed In a staff meeting I learned that our kids in 3d and 4th grades were making comments about a blind preschooler, equating blindness with mental incompetance. I have access to some of the phys ed budget which can buy some materials (books, videos, whatever) to address this. I discovered that my favorite resources are out of print. What do you know about, both for the children and as techer resources? Thanks!! -- Johanna Halbeisen Woodland Elementary School(K-4) Southwick, Mass jhalbei@k12.oit.umass.edu I posted this earlier today but I do't think it got through. Apologies if it did and this is a duplicate posting. Suddenly I discover that there is some money in the phys ed budget that I could use to get materials for students and for teachers on disability awareness. It quickly became clear that my favorite resources, now about 20 years old, are all out of print. (No surprise) So, what do you know of that is a good book, video, curriculum, etc for K-4?
