There is a great new series of books called: Dear America
They are fictional "diaries" of girls during different Historical
 periods-
Revolutionary War, Civil War and Colonial America

"The Winter of Red Snow: the Revolutionary War Diary of
Abigail Jane Stewart- Valley Forge PA. 1777"

would fit your request for 4th/5th grade Rev. War titles
and it is a great read aloud.
