Gen: American Revolution Story

My 8th grade history teacher has asked me to find a story about Fort
Ticonderoga's big guns which were taken to Dorchester Heights in Boston.
Supposedly, there was no ammunition to fire them, but the British were
astonished at the fortification.  She would like that part in the story
and although I find reference to the event, I do not find substantiation
that there was no ammunition to fire them.
Please reply to me directly.  (She thinks this might have been in an
