you send books to a bindery anymore?  If so, which companies are
reliable and prompt?  Thanks.

There is an exciting opportunity in the Philadelphia area for a person who
is interested in being a Library Director in a fully networked campus.  It
is a wonderful position because of the progress being made with
technology, especially in the libraries.  I am sad to be leaving such a great job,
but I am looking forward to spending more time with my family.

The following notice is the official posting:

The Haverford School, and independent college-preparatory day school
enrolls nearly 800 boys in grades K through 12, is seeking a Director of
the Libraries to be appointed as of August 1, 1997.  The successful
candidate for this position will hold an ALA accredited MS/MLS and have a
strong interest in working with students in grades 6-12.  Candidates
should also have a good working knowledge of and enthusiasm for technology
in library systems.

REsponsibilities for the Director include a broad spectrum of professional
activities associated with running a school library.  These include the
development of a library mission statement, goals, a strategic plan,
policies, budget and evaluation instruments.  The Director will also
develop and maintain close ties with those responsible for the school's
curriculum to ensure that the libraries are responsive to their needs.
Other tasks include staff supervision and development, reference service,
circulation desk supervision, cataloging, searching the Internet and other
online services, providing library instruction, collection analysis, user
studies, etc.

Status:         Administrator, 12 month position
Salary:         negotiable, depending on experience
