This is in reply to Joanne Sullivan's post of April 7, 1997 and an earlier one from Fred Newton: I found a way to remove the search history from the Location box in Netscape. I don't think this technique has been posted before. MSIE users should probably look for something similar. In the Netscape.ini file, there is a paragraph that is labelled [URL history]. The latest searches will be listed there. Use an editor (like notepad) to access the .ini file and delete the lines under the paragraph label. When you restart netscape, there won't be anything when you press the down arrow in the Location: box. To always guarantee a clean opening, you could save a clean netscape.ini under a different name and copy it over every morning. The copy could probably even be part of your boot in autoexec.bat. Editing the URL HISTORY would also be a way to have a permanent list of sites ready to go at any time. This paragraph in the .INI should not be confused with the NETSCAPE.HST file, which also saves each address that the browser has accessed. Dan Robinson Editorial Specs Specialist H.W.
