Goals 2000 proposes that every classroom and library will be connected to the Internet by the year 2000. We know there are great resources available to our students, and Marti Anderson just shared with LM_NETers over 250 great websites for instruction. Yet even with Acceptable Use Policies, the possibility of accessing inappropriate information is a reality. First Amendment rights are mentioned by some when blocking software or Vchips are mentioned. The question arises as to what is filtered and who is going to do it? How is this a censorship issue and how should media specialists respond to this trend? Does anyone have information on research or articles pertaining to this issue? How do you feel about this topic? I would appreciate your responses. Margie Fronk Aspiring Media Specialist Heathrow Elem. Lake Mary, FL mehcf@worldnet.att.net
