Book Groups

Greetings LM_NETTERS,
I have been lurking on this list and making notes of many of your good
ideas. As this list has provided me with good ideas, I would like to
make, albeit small,a couple of contributions:

1. I have started a Mother-Daughter Book Group after reading The
Mother-Daughter Book Club: How Ten Busy . . . by Shireen Dodson. I do
not have a daughter to participate with me, but that did not stop me as
I started the club for two basic purposes: to keep the middle age female
reading quality books and to help keep communication open between
mothers and daughters as the daughters move into puberty.

I partnered with the owner of a small local bookstore who offers the
participants 15% the books if they choose to buy their own copies. It is
made very clear that no  one has to buy books from her. We limited our
first group to 15 pairs.

This is absolutely one of the best book programs I have ever done. We
have just finished our 2nd meeting and the discussions have been
intuitive and intelligent. The group has formed such rapport.

I am willing to share more details about this group to anyone who is
interested. For what it is worth, I am on-line in the summer. I would
now like to try a father-son book club.
