I have a request from my district curriculum director for titles of
historical fiction about African-Americans which do not use any epithets
at all. We have been challenged in our district about the distress
caused by certain racial slurs in historical fiction books that are read
by all in a classroom setting. These books are not challenged in
individual reading or in the library. Would you reply to me directly?
