Writing sample rubrics

Hello everyone,
     I have a teacher looking for information on rubrics and grading scales
for student writing for rhetorical and conventions (persuasive, personal
narrative, observational, etc).   She is particularly interested in the
theory behind such rubrics.   I have yet to hit ERIC, but thought I would try
this resourceful group at well.  TIA
