Mary and Group:

All of my reading and research says Laser disc technology is definitely
on its way out...if not already dead. Most producers discarded this
technology long ago.

With the advent of DVD (and its capacity to hold 4.3 gigabytes I think),
it will take over, but only when the price comes down. DVD players will
be able to accept our old CD-ROMs but any DVD disc will not be able to
run in even the fasterst speed CD-ROM drive. The motion picture
industry is the leader here because they want to provide discs that can
hold nearly two hrs of a movie. There is no CD-ROM around that can do
this and although laser disc have the capacity, the players still are
quite expensive with a limited budget. If your curriculum says have
it, you must!!! Maybe you can find a school that is not using one and
make a trade.

Do I still have a couple of laser disc players around? Yes, but it will
soon die the death of Beta...and I kept one of those around way too
long.

Hope this helps.
