Several years ago I purchased a large collection of laserdiscs and several
players for use in our district.  We gave inservice on their use and they
seemed to be the technology that was just right for teaching.  With
appropriate sofware, teachers and students could access just the right
information for the topic at hand.  Lessons could be tailored to show video
or still images relevant to the student information need, and students could
access the lesson for review on an individual basis.
However, the learning curve for busy teachers was just too great, the
equipment and discs did not circulate and I have not added to my collection
for the last two years.  I am going to clear out the collection in the fall and
offer it to those teachers who do use the discs and the players to have for
their clasroom libraries.
