Dear LM_NET My school (a JH, grades 7 & 8) has just received a $1000 donation from a parent who wants the money used for library books (in English) about Germany or by German authors or set in Germany. His wife is German, so I think that is the inspiration for the donation. He suggested books by Karl May. Do any of you have suggestions? I have many books about Germany already, both fiction and nonfiction, but most deal with some aspect of World War II and/or the Holocaust. I also have German dictionaries and the usual assortment of geography books. I need suggestions of fiction, especially, that is appropriate for junior high. A German children's or young adult author who has been translated into English would be ideal but I don't know of any. The donor's suggested author Karl May has two books in our public library, but both appear to be for adults and are quite long. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Please, please respond to me personally at hse2@iquest.net. I am on temporary leave from lm-net. Thanks a bunch. --Beth =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST For more help see LM_NET On The Web: http://ericir.syr.edu/lm_net/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
