I would like some input on the types of policies or information that you possibly distribute to students at the first class concerning your library classes in regards to assignments, how to take tests in your class, etc. Also, do you prepare a syllabus type paper that informs the students on the different assignments that they will be required to complete? This was the only response I received in regards to this question. Anyone else have suggestions? I don't give library tests. We have flexible access, as most high schools do, and my primary responsibility is to support the curriculum. I work with teachers to develop research units or help implement ones they have designed. The kids are graded by their teachers on the products of their research. (I like to think that I have all the fun of teaching without any of the drudgery.) I do some whole class instruction, but because kids are at different research abilities, I keep my formal instruction short and focus on providing individual instruction to those who need it without holding back those who already are proficient.
