For those of you who put the barcode on >the back of the book, do you put it parallel to the top or to the spine? Frankly, I wish I had never put it on the back. I was convinced by others that it was the best place for inventory - so that is where it should be. It struck me later that we only do inventory once a year (maybe) - but we do circulation daily. Our barcodes are parallel to the spine. I found that during inventory i have to remove the book anyway - I was getting "library wrist" (I just made that up) from holding the gun while scanning. It was easier to remove about 10 books at a time and scan them. If I was doing it over - i would not have put them on the back -- but I'm in the minority on this one..
