Does anyone know of some good lists of recommended reading for each grade level, K - 6? Web or print is fine. I'm looking for books suitable for 1) independent reading 2) reading aloud by teacher and 3) reading aloud by parent. Our superintendent wants to begin requiring students to read and, I believe, teachers to read out loud, certain books and wants to choose those that we can say every elementary child should read or hear. The elementary media specialists are to compile the list but not regulate how the "required" part is handled. I'm not sure the Supt. knows the can of worms he could be opening, but I do want any list created to be a good one. Thanks for any help or direction.
