GEN: NYT article on gov't computers for schools

This is a New York Times ("Cybertimes" section) article about a federal
government program to recycle old computers to the schools.  It includes
comments pro and con, and provides links to more information.

The NYT site requires registration, but is free, and I have found it to be
very, VERY valuable both for general news and for technology/Internet
stories.  The site is much faster if you use the text option rather than the
graphics-intensive pages.  I get to their index via
http://www.nytimes.com/info/contents/textpath.html, which starts on a
text-based index page.
