Well, here's what I've decided...for better or worse. I'm lucky, because I actually have 2 doors to decorate...the office I share with a colleague has a door, and she has no interest in decorating it!!! Yay!! WARNING: this idea is difficult to picture, but I sketched it out, and it looks really cool. "A Partridge in a Pair Tree" On the door, place a huge poster-board tree. The title, "A Partridge in a Pair Tree" is on top, kind of rounded into a semi-circle. For ornaments, I'll cut our pear shapes. The students will think of word pairs (homonyms, synonyms, antonyms, rhymes) and write them on their pear shapes. The top "star" on the tree is a picture of the Partridge family bus. Get it...Partridge...Pear (pair) tree? VERY CORNY, but David Cassidy would say (sing) "I think I love it, so what am I so afraid of....it's a door she can be proud of..." For the other door, I'll be a little more serious...I'll put a snow scene, trees, night sky. The title will be "Let there be peace on Earth (on top)...and let it begin with us" (on bottom) I'll let my home base students research different ways to say "Peace" or "Peace on Earth" in different languages. These will be written on the stars, the trees, etc. I don't know if we'll win, but I'm sure we'll have fun! Thanks again for all of your great suggestions!!! Marcia -- Marcia M.
