GEN: Ink removal

Hi, everyone.
Because of my library training and interest, I'm occasionally asked how
different item can be repaired?  (Sound familiar to anyone?)  Today, I
was asked how ballpoint (he thinks) ink can be removed from a glossy
magazine cover.  Does anyone know?  I didn't know how to do it.  Thanks
