TARGET-3M overhead projectors

Hi All!
        My principal needs some information on overhead projectors he is thinking
of purchasing. What do "Closed Head" and "Closed Wide Angle" mean? Does
anyone out there have recommendations (pro or con) regarding 3M 1700 series
overheads? Thanks for your help!
