I'll second Edward here. Unless your electronic fulltext IS an image, I would mention the system as well as the periodical in the citation. You might also want to include the date of the database, eg. Oct 97, if it is dated by the publisher, or the date the search was done. Over time, the data on a disc or database may change as corrections are made or old data is removed to make way for new data. When you're dealing with ASCII fulltext, many things can be different. 1. You can lose the original paging. You may get the number of pages in the article or a set of the direct paging, but most ascii text won't have page breaks with numbered pages. 2. You can lose any charts or tables. You'll definitely lose pictures. Some systems can display smaller tables, but there are compromises. 3. If any of the text is in a foreign language, full character sets may not be available for representation. The problem may be worse in a Web based database than in a CDROM based database. 4. Typos may creep into the ascii text. You won't really know if they existed in the original, or got by the proofreaders. Dan Robinson Indexing Services H.W.
