ELEM:Suggestions Requested for lesson on genres

Happy September Everyone!
I am in the process of planning a cooperative lesson with one of my
favorite fourth grade teachers introducing students to the various kinds
of books. We have lots of tried and true ideas but we would like to try
something new and thought you all might have some nifty lessons you'd
like to share.
The teacher plans to have a large chart in her class where students will
record books read during the year and wants to include a color code to
show genres as well.
I will gladly post a hit if there is interest.
