Many people, including the original poster, responded with sites to visit to find out popular music, automobiles, etc. during a certain year. Many more requested the results. Here is what was sent. Thanks so much! I keep a set in reference and allow one set to circulate. The books are called "Fashions of a Decade The 1920s through The 1990s. Each decade is a separate book. It shows advertisements as well as original photographs of that decade. Most of it contains adult clothing but there are a few pictures of children's and young adult's fashions. The set is published by Facts on File. The books also contain a historical perspective of that decade. I got the books a bit cheaper through Ingram (800) 937-5300 and Baker and Taylor (800) 775-1700. I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for but I thought I'd pass the info along. My fifth grade students are researching the year in which a grandparent was their age. We are using The World Almanac, The World Book Encyclopedia, Time CD almanac, Chronicles of the 20th century and a few other titles which we borrowed from the local HS. The kids are required to find the population of the US at that time, the most popular TV show, the Academy Award winning picture, president, Time's man of the year and why he was famous, and two significant current events. We are unable to use any of the great web sites that I found because our district server is down--not unusual! Hope that this helps. Must it be a web site? There is a book called _Panati's Parade of Fads, Follies and Foibles_ or something very similar to that which is very informative and entertaining. Available at most book stores and probably the public library. -- D'Anne Easton, Media Specialist Jim Stone Elementary 4255 College Avenue Conway, AR 72032 (501)450-4808 FAX (501)450-4807 eastond@conway.afsc.k12.ar.us =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to: listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write either: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET or 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST For more help see LM_NET On The Web: http://ericir.syr.edu/lm_net/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
