Hi, all ... check out Pamela Mendels's latest article at the online New York Times (if you have access to it -- and no, I can't send copies of the article; sorry). It is at: http://www.nytimes.com/library/tech/98/04/cyber/education/01education.html The title is "Nothing but Net? Not For Duke's Library Fans." The focus is at the college level, but the principle applies as well at K-12. Quoting in part: "'Keeping the library is essential,' Liken [a student at Duke] says. 'I use the library to study. You are surrounded by academic publications and it almost instills in you this drive to further your mind.'" Access to the NYT online edition is free in the U.S., with registration. Worth a look.
