Hi group, I'm in my first year as a school librarian, in a K-8 school. I just had a meeting with my principal, and he informed me that he will not recommend my rehire next year. He feels that I am not making the library an exciting place for teachers and students. I teach weekly classes to grades K-4 and will admit that I don't do much with the 5-8 classes but hoped I was doing an OK job. Apparently this is not the case. I will have the opportunity, during the next 2 1/2 months, to "prove myself" and be permitted to reapply for my position for next year. I am looking for sure-fire ways to "wow" the kids and teachers into saying that I'm doing a good job - I think the teacher feedback is most important right now. Any feedback, suggestions, ideas are greatly appreciated!
