You are so right, Constance. I have always had students who enjoy the
hunt but never want to settle down and actually do the assignment once
the material is found. I think they secretly hope the paper will get
written FOR them if they just look long enough!

The internet and electronic databases are just one more tool that they
can use to delay the actual reading and thinking and writing that the
assignment requires. We have only 2 working connections to the internet
in the library right now, so of necessity, we have to put a time limit
on their use. But you're right...getting students to settle down and do
the work is a major issue!
