I have been asked to post a hit for no Tv week.
.....we had lots of fun doing a real funeral for the tc in the
classroom. We shrouded it in black fabric, had a student play taps on
his trumpet and read odes the kids had written/ We had an elaborate
document signing ceremony, sealed with sealing wax.

....Why, selectively watching TV, among other things.

...encourage all to give up tv for the week-suggested activities to
do-walk, read, play board games...Give certificates to those that
complete week without tv. Family Circus had a series of cartoons about
no tv week we put in announcements along with the alternative
activities.

....Kids bring in pledges, provided everyone with a list of activities
and gave out certificates. All those who participaed had their names
posted in the front hall.

...Perfect time for families to read together, play games together,
talk together, walk, bike, cook, etc.

.... Ask kids to go without tv and read. Students get pledges for the
number of hours read and then donate their pledge money to Public
Library.

....Departments and clubs participate so there are special programs at
the ibrary, special programs at the schools, special projects with the
Parks and Recreation. The Y might be involved.

... Send home papers getting families and children to participate. Put
up signs and send out bookmarks. Encourage classes and teachers to
join. Reward those who participate with extra book check outs.

I found several different dates for No TV week. The one that appeared
the most was during National Library week.
