Target: Video dubbing: Copyright

Hi LM_Netters!

Would I be infringing on copyright if.....

I have a commerically bought video and the tape broke.

I spliced the tape and made my repairs.   Now, I want to make a copy of
this tape to peserve a copy (because the repairs will only be
temporary), is this infringing on copyright?
