This in response to Frederick Muller's post of Tuesday. For those who are interested in having survivors of the Holocaust, or Shoah, as it's called in Hebrew, I have a few suggestions. If you are living in a large city, you probably have a Jewish community with certain resources available. (Living in Los Angeles, and being the daughter and daughter-in-law of survivors, I don't need to look far.) Check your phone directory for the Jewish Federation or Jewish Centers Associations of America; they are a good resource. Most cities with any number of Jewish residents have a Holocaust memorial or museum with speakers available. Many of your Jewish students probably have a family member who is a survivor, and while they are not always the best speakers, that might be your only resource. Hear them while you can; most are in their 70's and 80's. Another resource which might point you to some speakers is the Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. The Simon Wiesenthal Center Multimedia Learning Center Online has lessons and other materials. If you can't link, the URL is:>>>>> www.wiesenthal.com<<<<< I hope this helps.
