This in response to Frederick Muller's post of Tuesday.

For those who are interested in having survivors of the Holocaust, or Shoah,
as it's called in Hebrew, I have a few suggestions.

If you are living in a large city, you probably have a Jewish community with
certain resources available. (Living in Los Angeles, and being the daughter
and daughter-in-law of survivors, I don't need to look far.) Check your phone
directory for the Jewish Federation or Jewish Centers Associations of America;
they are a good resource. Most cities with any number of Jewish residents
have a Holocaust memorial or museum with speakers available. Many of your
Jewish students probably have a family member who is a survivor, and while
they are not always the best speakers, that might be your only resource. Hear
them while you can; most are in their 70's and 80's.

Another resource which might point you to some speakers is the Wiesenthal
Center and Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. The

Center Online</A> has lessons and other materials. If you can't link, the URL
is:>>>>> www.wiesenthal.com<<<<<

I hope this helps.

Sharon Blumenstein, Emek Hebrew Academy Librarian, Sherman Oaks, CA
