One of our sites handles internet permission very well using their library automation system. In order to use the internet in the Library, the students have to have a signed permission sheet from their parents. When the library gets the permission sheet they change the student's loan parameters from a regular patron to an Internet patron. To actually use an internet station, the student has to check out a large sign that goes on top of the workstation monitor. Without the sign in place, no one should be sitting at that workstation. If a student who hasn't gotten the slip signed tries to check out one of the signs, the automation system blocks the checkout. It works really slick for them.
