Today a woman (for whom I proctor tests) came into my media center and
complained about a library book from the Public Library. Her 10 year old
daughter was reading it and showed it to her. She brought it in to show
me, title...__Who Killed Mr. Chippendale? : a mystery in poems__ by Mel
Glenn.

I am against censorship in any form (I do believe in intelligent selection)
but with the recent events in the nation with the violence in schools ...
well it's pretty bad. It's a book of free verse poems that describe
people's reactions when Mr. Chippendale (a high school teacher) is shot to
death as the school day begins.

This woman is pretty upset and wants my opinion. It is shelved in the YA
section of the public library. I don't like censorship, but I can
certainly understand her position. She has already talked to someone at
the library and told them of her concerns, which fell on a deaf ear.

Thanks in advance for your thoughtful responses.
