I am a BRAND new school librarian media specialist, not quite finished my school library media certification and have never been a classroom teacher (there is a real shortage so they figured better to hire me than to have no one!). I am feeling slightly overwhelmed, well...ok, so I'm feeling tremendously overwhelmed, and I appreciate all the back to school suggestions I have seen lately. Today, I had two teachers request things from me and was wondering if anyone can help. One teacher has a 2/3 split and would like some Berenstain Bears type books about following rules. The other, a first grade teacher, is looking for a book called Summer something by someone like P.D. Eastman or Dr. Seuss. Also, some of our schools in our district are receiving nice chunks of extra money and we have been instructed to find good science selections --my principal has asked I concentrate on grades 1, 4, 5. Seems the rest have plenty. Thanks!
