HIT: SEC: good read#6

  Downriver  by Will Hobbs - good book about a group of
teens on an "adventure tour" for troubled youth (if my memory serves
me). They are separated from the adults in the group  and float the
Grand Canyon alone and learn they can compete and survive, etc. One
of my favorite books when I was elem. librarian was "Hatchet" by Gary
Paulsen -you're probably familiar with that one, but I think it would
work well with the middle schoolers well. These are two off the top
of head - good luck to your husband...Judy

highly recommend any Jerry Spinelli book for middle school boys. Will
Hobbs has written some great adventure books for this age, such as "Down
