SEC: Making Homcoming a positive experience

Greetings,
Homecoming, I know, is in your rearview mirror, but I need help with ideas for 
making a deteriorating situation here better. We have a school/community group that 
is discussing, among other things, ways to improve what we do within the school day 
for Homecoming. What I would like to hear from you folks are reasons why HC at your 
site is a positive experience. What do you do or don't do that makes HC work?
