HIT: Middle School Survival Non-Fiction

Here are a few  more additions to my original HIT.

"I've just discovered a wonderful new book I am sending to a former
collegue who does a survival unit.  It's called (I think) The Black
Whiteness and the is story in picture book format of Richard Byrd's winter
in isolation in Antarctica.  The illustrations are stunning/chilling."

"I highly recommend Alfred Lansing's classic: ENDURANCE.  It is such
a gripping story that I had needed an antacid after reading the
thrilling ending. It is set in 1914 and details the five-month adventure
of the crew of an expedition that is trapped when Antarctic ice crushes
the ship Endurance."
