Americans.
         Introduces new vocabulary.  Encourages interactive participation

         The first section of this video is relevant to Native Americans. It
looks at the music,
         dance, and culture of Native Americans.

History of Texas Indians. (Series). Chicago, IL: SVE and Churchill Media,
1998. Color. Range: 27:40 - 29:28 min. with teacher's guides. $255.

         A series of three videos that discuss the history of American Indians
in Texas.  The
         First Americans: The Paleoindians looks at the most ancient of
American cultures,
         Texas Buffalo Hunters and Warriors focuses on the Comanche Indians
and their
         relationship with horses, Agricultural Indians of Texas deals with
the way the
         Native Americans learned and developed the agriculture of the land.

         Contains essays on 400 Native American groups.  It allows you to
compare/contrast
         the various groups. Included are historical and modern maps, native
stories, short
         biographies, and illustrations. (SLJ-2/98).

Native Americans 1 & 2. Washington, D.C.: National Geographic Society, 1995.
$59.95 each. (1-800-368-2728).
         Part 1 introduces the Eastern Woodlands and the Plains, and Part 2
introduces the
         Northwest Coast and Southwest Indians.  It compares/contrasts the
homes, hunting,
         and food of the different regions.  Also shows the struggles Native
Americans face
         while trying to preserve their culture.

         This software combines text, narrated video, slide shows and
interactive elements.
         It is broken down into 7 areas: history, plains world, museum, Native

         This website gives the history of The Oneidas.  It contains many
exhibits The
         Oneidas of today, and a virtual tour.

         Contains the history, legends, stories, and customs of many different
tribes.

Smithsonian site on Native Americans. http://www.si.edu/nmai/nav.htm
         This informative site gives links to exhibitions, publications and
recordings, film
         and video, research and collection, and other Native American sites.

Native American Resources.
http://hanksville.phast.umass.edu/nas/SSILA/names.html
         Gives the culture and history of many Native American regions and
tribes.  It is
         easy to read and the information is very detailed.

Eagle Ridge Elementary School. http://www.primenet.com/~eaglerg/
         This school's website provides links to Native American sites.  These
sites give
         a collection of stories from different tribes.  You can learn about
pow-wows and
         Native American crafts.
