Thanks to all the people who came up with the author for me.

It is from a short story by Jack Finney, one of my favorite non-romance
genre time travel writers. I'm not sure which collection, possibly Three by
Finney which I have not been able to put my hands on yet. I have read Time
and Again and am currently reading the sequel to it, From Time to Time.

I also have the short story collection called About Time(which I own and
have not been able to find since that movie) and it could be from that one
but I don't remember it. If anyone knows for sure let me know. I have sort
of taken time travel on as my personal favorite and if your student is a
good reader and likes Scottish history she should try Diana Gabaldon books.
I have read the first four and anxiously await others. I got started in
this whole genre with the movie Somewhere in Time(filmed on our own Mackinac
Island) and the TV movie The Two Worlds of Jennie Logan(with Lindsey
Wagner).
