I am looking anyone who is familiar with the IIgs word processor called HERMES. It is freeware from the early nineties. It provides a layout very similar to the Macintosh word processors, and can use scaleable fonts for very professional-looking copy. I have been trying to use this on a IIgs with no hard drive. Therefore, you have to make a cut-down system disc with Hermes and a selection of fonts added. My problem is that when I try to print, I get repeat messages to rechoose the printer. Nothing I do with the chooser seems to have any effect. I don't know if I have deleted something important in making the working disc, or if there is some other problem. My second problem, perhaps question, is: Why do the standard gs fonts look so elongated in Hermes? Only the system font seems to come out with normal proportions.
