Target: books for every Alphabet letter

Hello again,
My kindergarten teachers have money to spend and want to purchase 2-3 books
for every letter of the alphabet. We have already purchased the Soundbox
books and Read Around Alphabet Town. Now they are looking for books where
the predominant topic is alligator, anteater or ant for "a" as an example,
but which stand alone as good reads (not part of a series).  I'm sure in
this talented group someone has already created a list to give a great
starting point. I'll post a hit if there is interest.
