A Hero Ain't Nothin' but a Sandwich

Dear LM_NET,
        I have recently had a parent bring the book A HERO AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT A
SANDWICH to my attention for language and content.  It is by Alice
Childress.  The question about the story lacking a true ending of hope
to share with the reader was also addressed.  Has anyone else had this
brought to your attention?  What was the response and outcome?  Thank
you.
