ELEM: fun 2nd G. dict. lesson...

Greetings! Had great fun with 2nd graders and the dictionary this
week:  (They already had been 'introduced to the dict in their
classes).  Discussion about things that put you in a bad mood and make
you mad at everything and everyone.  Read: (I acted it out and
embellished it a little) Mean Soup by Betsy Everitt.  They loved it
and laughed. Brainstorm things (school approriate!) that they might
put in their own recipe for mean soup. then Hand out the dictiionaries
and a worksheet (you made) with lines for about 7 ingredients and then
space for them to draw their meanest self portrait.  Enjoy!
