We are in the process of choosing an automation system for both of our elem and jr-sr high libraries. We are thinking of either Athena or Sirs/Mandarin. I am interested in comments of users as to satisfaction and problems with the software and technical support. Also, we are trying to decide whether to purchase two copies and list the collections separately on one server or purchase one license and operate as one library collection in two locations. Our buildings are connected by the cafeteria and our networked servers are linked by fiber. We already borrow items from each other. What problems with inventory, etc. would be created by using one software copy? Can we have a union listing on either of these systems that would work without creating headaches other ways? Has anyone done anything like this? We have about 725 students K-12 and about 20,000 titles between us.
