I am particularly interested in US While it doesn't cover every day in history, the American Memory - Library of Congress page, This Day In History, does an amazing job at focusing on an important historical person or event. Each day there is an impressive essay about a person or event, and also has references to the various primary source collections where additional information can be found on the same subject. Archives are available.
