Colleagues: Many thanks to those of you who responded to my inquiry. Most of you told me that things weren't that bad in your areas. A very small number of you told me that you knew of some similar incidents, but that most public schools are NOT like that school. Some mentioned that it sounded like the administrators weren't doing their jobs. Thanks to all of your kind comments and encouragement I am going to continue to seek employment in a public school. While there certainly are some lazy and incompetent "teachers" who are drawing their paychecks without earning them, most of you are hard-working, caring professionals. I really enjoy your comments and helpful advice on this forum, and I'm looking forward to working with some of you personally next year. (Anybody in the north central part of the country looking for a librarian or teacher?) Thanks again for your help.
